TULALIP MARINA PIER RENOVATION
Marysville, WA

The Tulalip Marina pier is approximately 125 feet long and 25 feet wide and is attached to a 25 foot by 80 foot wharf along the shore.  The wharf supports an existing 25 foot by 25 foot wood building at one end.  The wharf and the pier each have 1 ton cranes mounted on the deck.  The existing pier and wharf are made of timber deck supported on steel and timber piles.  The original timber decking was overlaid with a concrete topping slab that had deteriorated to the point where it was nearly unusable.

CG Engineering was retained to develop as-built drawings and to perform a condition survey of the pier.  From this information we developed repair plans to bring the pier back into serviceable condition.  We then calculated a load rating for the pier.  We are also coordinating the permitting with the US Army Corps of Engineers.  The client is now deciding whether to replace the timber structure with a new concrete pier on steel piles.
