| CG Engineering provided the structural engineering design for a new office building. The two-story office building has approximately 10,000 square feet and is located on a corner lot in the downtown district of the city. The floor and roof framing consists of plywood web joists spanning between glu-lam beams, which are supported by interior steel columns or exterior CMU walls. The CMU walls serve as load bearing support walls as well as shear walls for lateral resistance. Canopies over both the front and back entries were designed and detailed as part of this project. The concrete foundation was designed using conventional spread footings under the walls and columns, with a slab-on-grade at the building interior. |
