| CG Engineering participated in this project as engineering prime consultant for the University of Washington. A condition assessment of the existing pier was completed in a written report format. Existing piling, timbers, and decking were visually inspected for soundness. Recommendations for pier renovation were completed along with a construction cost estimate. Construction documents will address permitting issues, fire safety and light provisions for the Department of Fish and Wildlife. CG worked with the University, the Department of Fish & Wildlife, and other permitting agencies to provide 60% ambient light transmission for migrating salmonoid by using steel grating on the deck. This project will also involve the installation of 18 new steel piles and replace timber members above pile caps. 2005 ASCE Seattle Section Outstanding Award for Excellence in Small Projects. |
